Now Arriving at Lumostage: INT. SUBWAY TRAIN

Lumostage is proud to announce an incredible new addition to our virtual production toolkit: Canada’s only standing INT. SUBWAY TRAIN film set, now available for filming at our Langley studio.

This one-of-a-kind set began its journey as a decommissioned Translink Mark I SkyTrain car. Working closely with some of British Columbia’s finest FX engineers and set designers, Lumostage transformed the Skytrain car into a remarkably authentic New York-style subway train — built with the versatility and detail demanded by today’s film, television, and commercial productions.

What makes this subway set truly special is how it integrates with the Lumostage LED volume. Using spherical tunnel plates created by Sim-Plates, filmmakers can achieve realistic motion and lighting for any subway or rail system — above or below ground, in any city, at any time of day — all while filming in British Columbia’s regional tax credit zone. Whether it’s a gritty late-night commute or a bright morning express, every shot can be tailored to the story’s needs, all within a controlled and efficient environment.

The first production to utilize the Lumostage subway train set begins filming October 2025, and we can’t wait to see this new asset come to life on screen.

For filmmakers, this new offering represents a major step forward in cost-effective, headache-free subway and rail scene production — eliminating the logistical challenges of trying to film on an active TransLink SkyTrain or securing costly real-world transit locations.
